Every June, the U.S. celebrates Caribbean American Heritage Month. Many Americans were born in, have lived in, or have family ties to the Caribbean. The Caribbean is a culturally-diverse part of the world. It encompasses many independent nations, territories of the U.S. and other countries, ethnic groups, and languages. In June, we can take time to celebrate these vibrant cultures and the many accomplishments from people with Caribbean heritage.
Caribbean-American is a broad term and has different levels of personal meaning for specific individuals. More specific identities, such as Boricua or Haitian-American, may have more personal meaning for some people.
