"Interprofessional education occurs when students from two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes" is the definition given by the World Health Organization in its Framework for Action on Interprofessional Education & Collaborative Practice (p. 7)
This definition is further fleshed out in the 2019 publication by the Health Professions Accreditors Collaborative, Guidance on Developing Quality Interprofessional Education for the Health Professions, which offers terminology, planning frameworks, and guidelines for standards for institutions developing or maintaining programs for interprofessional education.
