This is the oldest and largest U.S. organization devoted to supporting the profession and practice of AOM. Current projects include a unified competency model; clinical practice guidelines and acupuncture health technology assessment projects. Members can access American Acupuncturist, the association's official publication online.

This national, not-for-profit organization was founded in 198 for practitioners, instructors, and schools/programs of the various Asian Bodywork Therapy forms. These forms currently meet the professional standards and are formally recognized by AOBTA: acupressure, amma; Chi Nei Tsang; Five Element Shiatsu; Integrative Eclectic Shiatsu; Japanese Shiatsu; Jin Shin Do Bodymind Accupressure; Jin Shou Tuina; Mactrobiotic Shiatsu; Medical Qigong; Nuad Bo Ram; Shiatsu Anma; Tuina; and Zen Shiatsu.

The Guild, founded in 1989, is a non-profit, educational organization whose aim is to represent the goals and voices of herbalists specializing in the medicinal use of plants. They support herbal medicine practice grounded in ethics, competency, diversity and freedom of practice.

Funded by NIH's National Cancer Institute, this is a collaboration between Houston's MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Cancer Hospital, Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

Established in 1974, NADA Is a non-profit training and advocacy organization. They aim to spread the basic five ear-points NADA protocol for the treatment of addictions.

Recently established professional medical society organized at Guild #62 under the Office for Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) which is affiliated with the AFL-CIO. Current objectives include: working with other organizations to integrate acupuncture into mainstream medicine; advocating for increased workforce opportunities in mainstream health; promoting uniform national competencies and standards and working toward nationally coordinated state acupuncture practice acts.

This national organization supports local, regional and national conferences as well as other educational opportunities. Monthly QI Talks are available to members online.

The Society for Acupuncture Research is dedicated to improving the quality and increasing the awareness of research in acupuncture, herbal therapy and other modalities of Oriental Medicine.

This non-profit, professional organization promotes and protects the practice of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Massachusetts.

The NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine through professional certification. Under the Forms section are useful handbooks and study guides.

In addition to information about the organization including the Code of Ethics, they provide access to their newsletter Jing-Luo and their professional journal Australian Journal of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (AJACM).

They include a good deal of information for patients both generally (see the Traditional Acupuncture section) as well as Research Fact Sheets for 60 conditions ranging from acne to vertigo. These Fact Sheets provide general information on the topic, how acupuncture can help and then a review of specific studies/systematic review articles on that topic.
