Boston Study Spaces Guide

Find the type of space that meets your current studying needs.

White Basement Study Lounge (WB21)

This 24 hour space has 2 doors and is lower than the hallway outside. You will either need to go down a small set of stairs or use the wheelchair lift. Inside is a variety of seating, printers, and desktop computers.

White Hall Foyer (3rd floor)

Just outside of White Hall are 8 round study tables, also available 24 hours.

Henrietta DeBenedictis Library (2nd floor Matricaria)

The Library offers a large number of seating options, including high-top tables, soft couches, group study rooms, and study carrels. The space is open 24/7, but study rooms can only be booked when the Circulation Desk is open. There is also a Quiet Study space available for those needing to concentrate.

Matricaria Lobby

This 24 hour space has a number of seating options but can get noisy when other members of the campus community are moving through it.

4th Floor Matricaria Study Space (4020/4021A)

This 24 hour space contains high-tables and soft seating and is generally quiet.

Fennell 1st Floor Student Lounge

Open 24 hours and generally a social area during the day, this space can be used for study if you are comfortable with a lot of background noise.  Also, the TV is usually on.  There is a microwave and it is a good place to study or socialize and eat. It is quieter during the evening, if events are not scheduled there.

Fennel Atrium

The atrium of the Fennel Building has a number of tables and chairs that are available 24/7 for students to use. The space is generally noisy during the day, but quiets down later at night.

Fennel 2nd Floor Atrium Balconies

Overlooking the atrium are two balconies on the second floor, with seating and electrical outlets. Great for people watching, but with similar noise concerns to the atrium.

Griffin Building Lobby

Located just as you enter the Griffin Building, this space offers a variety of seating options and access to technology including desktop computers and printers.

Griffin Building Second Floor Lobby

On the second floor of the Griffin Building is another lobby with high-table and booth seating, all with electrical and USB outlets.

Griffin Building Basement Lobby

In the basement of the Griffin building are a set of tables and computer stations. Drinks and snacks are also available from the vending machines in this space.
