Create a Test

Click "Take a Self-Assessment" to start designing your own test.

Part of the NAPLEX Review Dashboard page. The user's name is displayed at the top, with a description of the review tool, a link to non-question review content, and a button labeled "Take a self-assessment".

Decide when you want to see the answers. You will always see the correct answers at the end of the test. You can also choose to see the correct answer right after you answer the question.

Each section of the "Take a Self-Assessment" page has radio buttons for the options you can choose. Please indicate your preferences: Show me the correct answer <default option>"As soon as I submit my answer" <option>"On the summary page at the end of the self-assessment".

Decide what type(s) of questions you want to see. You can see only knowledge-based questions, only application-based questions, or a combination of both. Knowledge-based are questions such as "What drugs are used to treat this condition?" or "What are side-effects of this drug." Application-based questions will give you a case and ask you to make a decision about that case.

<h3>Question Levels:</h3> <option> "Knowledge-based." <option> "Application-based." <default option> "All levels."

Decide which competency area you want.

<h3>Competency Areas:</h3> <option> Area 1 <option> Area 2 <default option> All Competency Areas

Decide if you care whether you have already seen a question or not. You can study only questions that are new to you, review questions that you have already answered incorrectly, or see a mix of new and old questions. Decide what works best for you.

<h3>Self-assessment should include:</h3> <option>Questions that I have not answered or seen before (3123) <option> Questions that I previously got wrong (0) <default option> Questions of any type (3123)

Decide what topics you want to include. The default option is "All Subjects".  If you only want to see specific subjects, you will need to tell the system which ones to use. Choose as many as you want.

If you select "Specific Subjects" you will get another section with check boxes for the different subject areas. None of them will be selected by default. Only the first four are shown in this screenshot. <h3>Subjects:</h3> <option> All Subjects <selected option> Specific Subjects <check box> Anemias <check box> Anti-infective Agents <check box> Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease <check box> Biostatistics.

(Optional) Check how many questions meeting those criteria are available.  You will need to enter the number of questions you want before the site will calculate the possible number of questions.

"I want the following number of questions on my self-assessment. Enter the number of questions you want." There is a blank field for entering numbers. "How many questions are available based on the choices made above?" There is a button labeled "Calculate Now".

You can change your choices and re-calculate if you want.

Click "Start Test" to finish creating your test.

Take a Test

Your test will begin when you click "Start Self-Assessment." You will see the first question along with the answer choices. Select your answer. Then, click "Submit Answer."

The actual question and option answers have been greyed out in this image to protect PharmacyLibrary's proprietary content. The panel on the left has links for all of the questions in this test. The current question and possible answers appear on the right. <hyperlink>Save Self-Assessment & Resume Later</hyperlink><hyperlink>Submit For Final Grading</hyperlink> The question has radio buttons for the five potential answers, labelled as A, B, C, D, and E. A "Submit Answer" button follows the answer options.

If you set the test to show you correct answers right away, you will see what the correct answer was and why. In addition, questions you answered correctly will turn green and questions that you answered incorrectly will turn red.

Some of the visual notifications do not have comparable audio options. A statement about the correct answer and the explanation will follow the answer options. The correct answer will not be indicated audibly in any way in the actual list of options. In addition, the question links will not be marked to indicate which questions you have answered correctly and which ones you have answered incorrectly. The actual question and option answers have been greyed out in this image to protect PharmacyLibrary's proprietary content.

Use the "Next Question" and "Previous Question" buttons to switch between questions. Or, just click on the number of the question you want to go to. You can skip over a question if you are not sure of an answer. You can revisit a question you have already answered. (If you set your test to show correct answers right away, though, you cannot change your answers.)

Links to navigate between questions appear both in the left-hand panel and above the text of each question. The first panel has a link for every question. The second panel only has "Previous Question" and "Next Question" links. Some of the visual notifications do not have comparable audio options. This image shows only the top of the page; the content of the question is cut off.

(Optional) You can write a note to yourself. The "Add a Note" box appears below the "Submit Answer" button and any information about the answer to the question.  Start typing your message in the box, then click "Save Note." To remove a note, delete what you typed in the "Add a Note" box and click "Save Note" again.

You can also flag a question to mark a question you want to look at again later. Click the "Flag this question" link. If you change your mind later, you can click the "Unflag this question" link in that same spot.

The box has two sections. The top part is labeled "Flag this question". The bottom part is labeled "Add a Note" and has a text field labeled "You may enter and save a note about this question here." At the bottom there is a button labeled "Save Note".Small icons will appear next to questions that you have flagged or added notes to. Questions you have flagged will have a small flag. Questions you have added notes to will have a small square. (These are the same icons you see next to the link to flag a question and the label for the box to add a note.)

Cropped to show only the list of questions. There is a small square indicating a note next to question 3, and a flag next to question 4. Some of the visual notifications do not have comparable audio options.

You do not need to finish the test all at once. Click the "Save Self-Assessment & Resume Later" link to stop in the middle of a test. Your test will be saved on your NAPLEX review page. You can return to it at any time. Or, you can leave it unfinished forever, or delete it.

The link to "Save Self-Assessment & Resume Later" is above the test content and is followed by and the "Submit for Final Grading" link. Some of the visual notifications do not have comparable audio options. The actual question and option answers have been greyed out in this image to protect PharmacyLibrary's proprietary content.

When you want to finish the test, go back to your NAPLEX Review page and click "Resume Test." Note that the system will tell you how many questions you have not answered. If you had set the test to show correct answers right away, it will also tell you your score based on the number of questions you have answered.

This table is titled "List of Your Self-Assessments" and shows the user's self-assessment history. There are columns labeled "Date", "Score", and "Questions" displaying the date taken, the score, and the number of questions in the test, with unanswered questions in parentheses. The most recent test is listed first. The fourth column is not labeled and contains a link to "View detailed results" for the completed tests and "Resume test" for the incomplete test. The incomplete test also has a "delete" link at the end of the row.

You can pick up right where you left off. Click "Submit for Final Grading" when you have answered all of the questions.

The link to "Submit for Final Grading" follows the "Save Self-Assessment & Resume Later" link. Some of the visual notifications do not have comparable audio options. The actual question and option answers have been greyed out in this image to protect PharmacyLibrary's proprietary content.

You will see a quick report on how you did. If you want to review a question, click on the link for that question. You will see the question and all of the options, the correct answer, what you chose, and an explanation of why the answer is correct. If you had added a note or a flag to that question, you will also see that information.

You will also see a list of all materials you might wish to review for the questions you answered.

The test summary page is broken up into three sections: "NAPLEX Review Summary," "Details," and "Targeted Study Aids." Click on a specific question in the "Details" section to see more information about that question.
