Share these instructions with your students to encourage participation in creating inclusive classrooms:

🎙️ Option 1: Audio Recording

  1. Students log into Blackboard using their MCPHS credentials
  2. Click on their name in the main left navigation
  3. In the "Pronunciation" field, click "Add Pronunciation"
  4. Click "Record Name Pronunciation" and allow microphone access
  5. Record clearly - students have 20 seconds for their recording
  6. Review and re-record if necessary for clarity
  7. Save changes to make pronunciation available to instructors

📖 Option 2: Phonetic Spelling

  1. Follow steps 1-3 above to access profile settings
  2. In the "Pronunciation" text field, type phonetic spelling using recognizable patterns:
    Examples: "Catherine" = "KATH-rin" or "José" = "ho-SAY"
  3. Use hyphens to clearly separate syllables
  4. Capitalize stressed syllables for proper emphasis
  5. Test pronunciation by reading the phonetic spelling aloud
  6. Save profile changes to make information visible
